About Programme

Medical secretary is a healthcare professional who compiles statistical data related to health, report to the related departments by analyzing with scientific methods, conducts communication and correspondence services in the medical units, and collects information and documents.

As considered the advancing health conditions in the World and in Turkey, the of needs of trained and qualified manpower have been increasing in the field of health. Along with training talent technicians in the health sector all data in the health organisations can be appropriately recorded and it has contributed health organisations to work efficiently and country economy. Also, health statistics prepared correctly and completly by trained health personel play an important role tocompare health index.

Rapid increase of number of private hospital and health organizations has increased needs of qualified medical secretary. In spite of targeted improvements in the health sector in Turkey, deficiency about training of working in this area has been seen an important issue which slows down advances.

Goal

Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program aims to train health technicians which conduct secretary services, record process related with diagnostic detection and treatment of ilness, prepare and archieve administrative and statistical documents,prepare patients for examination, provide oral and writing communication of institutions that they work.

Target

1) Targets of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Programme is to follow up all innovation in this field and train medical secretaries dealing with information and document services in health organizations.

2) To record several process related with diagnostic detection and treatment of ilness, to prepare and to archieve administrative and statistical documents,

3) To prepare patients for examination, to provide oral and writing communication of institutions that they worked.

Admisson

Admission requirements are determined by OSYM according to regulations of Council of Higher Education. Students are placed by Central Placement OSYM examination acccording to the YGS-3 score type results for the Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program.

Graduation Requirements

   Students who successfully complete all compulsory courses specified in the course plan and the minimum number of elective courses required;                     complete  120 ECTS credits and have a minimum CGPA of 2.00/ 4.00 will graduate.

 

Degree To Earn

The students who have successfully graduated from Medical Documentation and Secretarial Field entitle to get associate degree (Level 5) and "Medical Secretary (Health Technician)"

Transition To Top Level

After the students who graduated from "Medical Documentation and Secretarial" pass the vertical Transfer Exam (DGS),they may pass to the bachelor programs of Management, Business Management, Health Administration, Health Management.

Employment Opportunities

The students who graduate from Medical Documentation and Secretarial program will have various job opportunities. They may take in charge in the university hospitals, public hospitals, health centers, hospitals and private clinics patient records and adoption, clinics and outpatient clinics, laboratories, operating rooms and emergency services as well as medical units and archive services, and also work in the private practice of medicine, medical software companies, ambulance companies. They are appointed as Health Technician (Medical Secretary) according to Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Grade and Level Gained

   The students who have successfully graduated from Medical Documentation and Secretarial Field entitle to get associate degree (Level 5) and "Medical         Secretary (Health Technician)"

Grade Requirements and Rules

The students studying in the program, at least 2.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.00 in order to graduate and be accessible to all the courses prescribed in the curriculum should be achieved with the minimum DD. a minimum of 120 ECTS to be acquired for graduation. Students complete their compulsory internship in a specified time is mandatory.
